The Silk Cayes are a small scattering of tiny islands, often referred to by the locals as the Queen Cayes. The Silk Cayes boast two awesome dive sites – one for the novice diver, and another for those on the intermediate level.
The first site is perfect for the novice; its calm waters, plethora of reef fish, beautiful sea topography spotted with coral heads, turtle grass and sandy shallows provide amazing photographies. Snap shots of batfish, nurse sharks, tiny jacks, juvenile spadefish, and even the predatory barracuda hunting for lunch.
The second site, the intermediate diver’s dream, takes you over 90ft gullies to reach the main barrier reef wall. You’ll experience much more water movement from the larger ocean swells above. Despite the swells, there are still healthy coral and gorgonians. You’ll see groups of ocean triggerfish, often with remoras attached, reef sharks and a wide assortment of pelagic.
In between dives you’ll barbecue on one of the cayes, enjoy some sun and relax. The traditional Belizean cuisine is bound to fill your belly and gladden your heart.
